LUXURY CRUISE
Beneath, behind
This emptiness
No consumption
Can ever fill, the
Craving masks
A deeper hunger;
The yearning of
A homesick soul.

I have a problem and a half with these themes where replies to comments dissear up their own …
Beautiful! And ’tis true.
Not so beautiful the sadness beneath those masks though.
True of the homesick soul, but I was assuming he/she was going home. Also beautifully written. 🙂
You might check out Tom’s comment on this when I first posted it on my main site and my reply:

And thank you, as ever, for your generous compliment, Betty. 🙂
Always interesting to read Tom’s comments, and exchanges between the two of you. Thanks for taking me to the original link.
I was thinking of the transcendence of this homesick condition, the arrival to the place of longing buried in our souls, to which most of us are unconscious. Our true homes. And so I still think it beautiful. If we feel homesick, then we’re semi aware of something more, beyond the trappings. And that’s the first step in going there.
From that first intuition/semi-awareness and discomfort we can choose to start looking for what it is (like for example Gautama) or else run away and dive deeper into the illusion. As you say, the first step is there but for some it is not yet time to take it.
Yes, understood.
I was seeing something that wasn’t there.
It’s not the first time.
I think it’s not about you seeing something that’s not there; more about different folk focussing on different aspects of the same thing. 🙂
Yes. And so your poem is beautiful for all the above reasons.
Kisses.
